I’m studying how invasive plants that grow along riverbanks affect the fish and insects we find in the rivers. Invasive plants are plants that originated somewhere else, but have since been introduced somewhere they’re not meant to grow. They’re often really competitive, so they grow quickly and use all the light and water and nutrients in the soil, which means our native plants often can’t grow as well. I’d like to know whether these “alien” plants have any effects on fish and insects, particularly as the fish need to eat the insects as part of their diet.

I work with engineers who develop new technologies for putting wifi in homes. My job is to then use maths to predict how good the wifi coverage will be for the technology they have developed.
The technology keeps changing so testing using maths is much quicker than experiments.

I’m currently working on a project to deliver a live science show with explosions, light experiments, 3d holograms, music and lighting. There are many onus working on this and we hope it will inspire more people to study science, who wouldn’t really thinking science as being a creative subject.
I am building frames for the demonstrations and explosives on the stage to be safe so thatbthey don’t hit the musicians on stage!
