Actually, I’d go with one of my teachers from school. I had the chance to do A Level geology, and the teacher we had, who had been a geologist before getting into teaching was excellent – he really cared about the subject, and worked hard to get us all enthusiastic about it. I think quite a few of us from that class went to on work in geologically-related jobs later on, so he was pretty successful!

I would say someone I met later on in my career – when I was about 23. He was working as a postdoc (so someone who has done a couple of degrees at university), and I worked with him on one of my projects for my degree. He was really passionate and hard-working, but also put a lot of time and effort into teaching me about everything he did, which helped me as a young scientist.

My mum and my old form tutor and a public engagement mathematician named Matt Parker inspired me to follow my dreams in mathematics.
All of my colleagues inspire me day to day.
