My PhD was advertised, so I applied and went for an interview – they hired me after that.

I had to write a funding proposal – basically, this explains what I’d like to work on for a few years, what resources I need to do it, and what it is likely to produce in terms of new science. Fortunately, it was approved, and so I have a job!

Usual – saw an advertisement, and applied. However, I had got the qualifications (school. college), and I had the experience (work, work and extra work)

I can tell you I am terrible at interviews, so this is not a complete barrier
