      Wetness is the ability of a liquid to stick to the surface of a solid – so if we think about it like that, then water itself is not wet, but can make other materials wet. However, if we say that wetness is what we feel when we touch a liquid, then yes, water is wet. It depends on which way you think about it!

      It feels wet because it creeps all over and sticks. Cover your hands in something like oil or grease and the water doesn’t seem to stick – it cannot “wet” through the oil
