My job lets me looks at how healthy our rivers are, and what sort of plants and animals we find in the rivers and around them. Rivers are incredibly important – they drain surface water from the land and carry it out to sea, they provide habitats for hundreds if not thousands of species of plants and animals, and we use them for recreational things like swimming and fishing. They are an incredibly important feature of our landscape and we have to do all we can to protect them and look after them. The work I do helps me and people like me to achieve this 🙂

I help make chemicals which are used to clean up dirty water, so what goes down the toilet and sink can be pumped back into a river as clean water, with all the rubbish removed.
