When I studied chemistry at school, we did an experiment called “screaming jelly babies”. You put a jelly baby in a test tube with some potassium chlorate – the sugar in the jelly baby oxidises really quickly, causing it to burst into flames, and making a “screaming” sound as the gases rapidly expand. It’s great fun to watch!

      I have loads of favourite!
The periodic clock is good fun as it uses a magnetic stirred which is always fun. (BRIGGS-RAUSCHER) A mixture of chemicals that change colour as it stirs, as it is a reversible oscillating reaction, demonstrating rates of reaction and equilibrium
