You could make a case for a lot of scientists. But I think a special mention should go to Francis Bacon. He was a English aristocrat and politician in the 16th/17th century, and one of the first proponents of the “scientific method” and a school of philosophy called “empiricism” – an evidence-based approach to learning that underpins pretty much all of our current scientific knowledge, and the process of how we’ve got there.

It’s difficult to choose just one name. I’d make an argument for Richard Feynman, simply because of how well and how often he communicated his knowledge to people around him. He also had an amazing ability to get people of all ages and background interested in science, which I think is very impressive and very important.

I would pick Albert Einstein, someone who sat down and thought about how the universe worked, and came up with some fundamental changes in science at the start of last century. He helped contribute to science, leading to the nuclear energy industry, and sadly the nuclear bomb, but I admire him because he admitted mistakes, changed his mind when he felt he should.
His hairstyle is something I do not like, simply because every cartoon scientist ever since has looked like him
